The project's steering committee visited the Tomato Learning and Services Center's site in the faculty of agriculture, Alexandria university to follow-up on the latest developments.
3rd Steering Committee, 30 May 2023
Alexandria University hosted the third meeting of the Steering Committee of the Inclusive and sustainable development of the Tomato Value Chain in Egypt (TVC) Project, as the host of the Tomato Learning & Services Center (TLSC).
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, led by Minister Plenipotentiary. Amr Hazaa, Advisor to the Minister of Trade & Industry and Director of the Development Projects Unit in the Ministry, Prof. Dr. Lubna Al-Haridi - representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Mr. Martino Milli - Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Cairo, representing the Italian government, And Mr. Ali Badarneh - Director of the Sustainable Food Systems Unit at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Mr. Ahmed Rizk - Representative of the UNIDO office in Cairo.
MacFrut, 2-5 May 2023
The TVC project team attended the Macfrut 2023 – a leading trade fair for professionals operating in the national and international fruits and vegetable sector, held in Rimini, Italy from 2nd to 5th May 2023.
During the event, the project team met a number of Italian, Egyptian, and international attendants in the area of tomato production and processing, including technology manufacturers, consulting companies, and government officials.
Food Africa, 5-7 December 2022
The Inclusive and Sustainable Development of Tomato Value Chain in Egypt (TVC Project) has successfully concluded its participation in the Food Africa International Exhibition.
The participation resulted the implementation of 28 different consultation sessions on the best practices in cultivating edible tomatoes and how to overcome the challenges of manufacturing tomato products in terms of the technology used, mechanization and packaging, in addition to product development and marketing opportunities for the Egyptian product in the tomato industry.
During the exhibition period, the project pavilion received more than 200 visitors from various actors in the tomato value chain.
Cibus Tec Forum, 25-26 October 2022
TVC Project in collaboration with UNIDO ITPO Italy and the Egyptian Chamber of Food Industries supported Egyptian companies in the tomato value chain and tomato processing sector at the Cibus Tec Forum in Parma, Italy and during its side event by ANICAV Associazione "Il filo rosso del pomodoro"
Green Dome Official opening,
24 July 2024
The official opening ceremony of the Green Dome which introduces a new technology of its kind that allows temperature control, with funding from the Slovenian government and in partnership with the Agricultural Research Center affiliated with the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation,

and His Excellency Sašo Podlesnik - Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Cairo
Visited Ali Mubarak’s site for protected crops in Nubariya for the official opening of the Green Dome after it was fully installed and operated and handed over to the officials of the Agricultural Research Center.
